May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.   Rom. 15:5

Progress:

•The city granted the church a conditional use permit.  This is necessary for building a church in a residential area.

•The facilities committee has met with the city administrator and reviewed a proposed development agreement between the city of Sandstone and the Free Church.  This document states our responsibilities and those of the city as development of the property begins.  It also contains the dollar amounts the city will be charging for water and sewer access, road construction, as well as the expectations and fees of the church in a variety of areas, both now and in the future. It includes the city’s compensation to the church for providing the land for the proposed street and the dedication of outlot C to the city.  This is an incredibly important document and the committee is prayerfully and carefully working its way through it.  This agreement is a part of the final plat process.

•Possible architects are being screened and references checked.

Praises:

•No complications in receiving the conditional use permit.

•A year-end building fund balance of $59,224.29!!!

 Prayer Requests:

•Pray for understanding and wisdom as work is done to revise the development agreement with the city.

•Pray that the city would understand our building situation and the differences from a profit business.

•Pray the city would show mercy as they decide on compensation for property and easements used by them.

•Pray that God would keep us from disunity and distraction from His purpose for us.

•Pray that God would unify us so that we can bring glory to Him in all things.

•Pray that we as a church will trust God to provide the resources needed in his perfect timing.

•Pray that relationships might be built with people in the community.

•Pray that above all the church remain focused on the goal of reaching the lost for Jesus Christ.

•Pray for Elim Care decisions.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

Progress:

The facilities committee met with city admin. Sam Griffith on Monday night.  He reviewed what has been completed with the city. The preliminary plat is 95% complete. We are waiting for the copy of the preliminary plat drawing and then Sam and the city engineer can sign off on the project.

Our next goal is the final plat which includes the following:

-The finalized preliminary plat.

-A conditional use permit which will change the zoning from multi-family to such that a church can be built.

-A “development agreement” with the city.

Once the final plat is approved construction could begin.

The committee will soon be meeting with architects to choose one that will fit our project.  Ideas from the “Build a church plan” workshop are being reviewed and NOW is the time to share any other ideas on the building design that you may have.  Please let the facilities committee know your thoughts.

Praises:

The building fund is currently at $ 47,676.  God keeps providing!

Great engineering expertise from John Johnson and Tyler Kroshel.

The completion of the preliminary plat.

Prayer Requests:

•Pray that God would increase our faith in Him during this building project.

•Pray for the Lord’s direction and timing.

•Pray that each of us might be prompted by God to step out in faith as God leads us through this project.

•Pray that everything said and done as the building project moves on would bring glory to God.

•Pray that we might build relationships with people in the community.

•Pray for Elim Care and the decisions they make.
